OKLAHOMA CITY - Police on Oklahoma City's south side say they are searching for a crafty thief, who allegedly was caught on camera tunneling through walls to break into several businesses.
The alleged suspect can be seen on video using a metal bar to break down the walls between three businesses at a strip mall near I-240 and Penn.
Police say the man crawled though several holes, from one business to another, stealing items along the way.
MSgt. Gary Knight, with the Oklahoma City Police Department, said, "He broke into the first business and then broke into the walls of the adjacent two businesses."
One victim says the alleged suspect first broke into an unoccupied office.
Ironically, officials say he ignored expensive construction equipment.
The suspect then allegedly tunneled through a wall into a chiropractic clinic.
Inside the doctor's office, victims say the man snatched several computers and iPads.
Eventually the man wound up inside a cell phone store in a way no one saw coming.
Varemi Raikhan said, "It was a surprise. We never expected that anyone would do it like that and come from other stores."
On camera, you can see the alleged thief rummage through the storage closet, eventually stealing several cell phones and then hundreds of dollars from a cash register before fleeing.
At that point, the man glanced directly at the night vision camera.
Raikhan said, "For this thing to happen was disappointing, but I hope police will catch the guy who did it."
Police told one of the victims the same suspect may have hit at least four different strip malls around the city.
Since all the businesses were closed, no one was at work at the time.
Fortunately, no one got hurt.
