Today is National Cereal Day.

Cereal has been known as the most popular breakfast food in America.

For many, the day starts out with a bowl of cereal.

It’s a meal that adults and children alike can enjoy and have done so for centuries.

Whether you’re a milk slurper or spoon user, cereal has become a comfort food enjoyed morning, noon or night.

So, as you dig into your bowl of corn flakes, Cheerios or Cap’N Crunch, here are a few fun facts:

Corn flakes were accidentally invented when the Kellogg brothers messed up a batch of Granola.

Kellogg’s was started in 1906 as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company after two brothers, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg and Will Keith Kellogg, botched a batch of granola and accidentally invented flaked cereal at the Battle Creek Sanitarium in 1898.
