NORMAN, Okla. – Whether retired or active the bond of military members is not easily broken.
Retired Air Force service member Wesley Beckwith was diagnosed with a stage 4 brain tumor on Valentines day.
Doctors told him he had six to eight months to live if he chose to do nothing or 12 to 18 months if he had surgery and chemo.
Wes chose to fight the cancer and came out of surgery with the left side of his body paralyzed.
Military service members and friends of the Beckwith family have all come together to make life easier for Beckwith in his final months by building him an assistance ramp for his wheelchair.
Beckwith’s childhood friend Pam Baker helped build the ramp and says seeing all of the support Beckwith received made her very emotional. “I have actually had to go around the other side of this house several times and cry because I’m blown away for my friend, but he deserves it.”
