MINNESOTA – A piece of history comes tumbling down in Minnesota.
An implosion leveled the 10-story “island station”, with its 180 foot smokestack, in Saint Paul this morning.
The coal-fired power plant sat along the Mississippi River, upstream from downtown Saint Paul.
The City council designated it a historical heritage site, but that designation offers no protection. according to Minnesota public radio news.
The property is being sold to developers.
