EDMOND, Okla. - A Del City mother is allegedly caught hauling around more than just her 4-year-old daughter after midnight.
In fact, police say she nearly smuggled PCP into the county jail.
The discovery was made in a 'personal location' within the woman's body as she was being booked into jail.
Around 2 a.m., there is not a lot of traffic in downtown Edmond.
When an officer spotted Kendra Thomas speeding down Broadway about 2:45 a.m., he pulled over her car.
Thomas is from Del City and had her child with her.
The police report says there "was a very strong odor of alcoholic beverage coming from inside the vehicle."
According to police, Thomas failed a field sobriety test.
However, the most unusual thing about her arrest was what authorities found hidden inside her body when they booked her into the county jail.
Jenny Monroe, with the Edmond Police Department, said, "They found six glass vials hidden in her vagina."
The liquid inside the vials tested positive for PCP.
Monroe said, "Two of them had a liquid inside of them and then the other four were either empty or it was dried up residue inside."
Thomas told police she hid the drugs there to protect her child.
Monroe said, "She said she was trying to keep her baby safe, and so that was why she put them there."
This is not the first time NewsChannel 4 has reported on a woman trying to smuggle things into jail using body parts.
Within the past year, officials in Ada found a loaded hand gun inside a female inmate's body cavity.
Just last month, authorities in Grady County say a woman brought meth into jail hidden in the same spot.
"I think six vials is probably a little unusual, glass vials especially in a body cavity," Monroe said. "People in those moments think they can get away with it, and that's the easiest way to hide it."
Thomas is facing several charges including child endangerment.
