DEL CITY, Okla. - Del City Detectives are investigating the homicide of a 15-year-old child that occurred on Friday.

Friday night Del City officers received complaints about an irrational male who was naked, out of control and starting fights with neighbors.

That man was a 57-year-old grandfather, Lochinvar Caldwell.

What his 17-year-old granddaughter told officers next is the last thing they expected.

Major Jody Suit says, “As soon as they got him detained the 17-year-old told our officers that my 15-year-old brother is in the house and was murdered earlier today by this individual. We know that all day long she stayed with him out of fear for her own life.”

The 17-year-old said her grandfather became delusional around 1 a.m. Friday morning and later that morning shot and killed her brother.

“We do believe at one time he was a preacher somewhere,” says Suit. “But I don’t know what the situation was that led to him raising the children. We don’t know what led to this incident.”

Neighbors to the Caldwell's say he seemed like a respectable man but they had noticed his weird behavior escalating.

Demarco Maxwell says, “I guess you can kind of tell something was wrong now that you think about it.”

Shelbi Hill says, “He looked kind of weird walking across the yard just taking kind of long strides. Just kind of pacing.”

These neighbors have a lot of questions, starting with what turned this normally quiet family's home into a crime scene.

“I wonder just what was going through his head,” says Hill. “Why would you do something like that?'

Caldwell was taken to a local hospital to be assessed before being booked into the Okla County Jail on charges of 1st Degree Murder.

Investigators aren't sure what motivated Caldwell, they are exploring a history of possible drug related or mental health issues.
