GUTHRIE, Okla. – Family and friends are remembering a 15-year-old boy who was killed when his house caught fire early Saturday morning.
Around 12:40 Saturday morning, police were called to a house fire in the 700 block of E. Springer.
When they arrived, the second floor of the home was engulfed in flames.
According to Chief Eric Harlow, with the Guthrie Fire Department, flames were shooting out of the roof.
Authorities say 15-year-old Terick Robert Jackson was trapped in his bedroom on the second floor.
A neighbor had attempted to rescue Jackson but couldn’t get past the flames.
Those flames also kept crews from getting to the teen in time.
A women and a boy were able to escape that fire without injuries.
Crews are investigating the cause of that fire.
