Surveillance camera stunt leaves thief star of crime in OKC

OKLAHOMA CITY - Two surveillance cameras stolen in the middle of the night from Basey’s Roofing on S.W. 27th and May.

Denise Oliver of Basey’s Roofing in OKC said the thieves, “just yanked them up and wires were just hanging.”

The thief looked straight into the camera when the theft took place.

“You can clearly see the suspect’s face. He took two of the cameras, looked directly into one of them.” said Master Sergeant Gary Knight.  “It’s kind of an unusual crime that we see when they’re stealing the surveillance cameras looking right into them while they’re being recorded.”

The other six cameras at Basey’s Roofing remained untouched, and it did not take long for the business to replace the stolen ones, but not without a hefty price.

The cameras reportedly cost hundreds of dollars.

The camera bandit probably did not know he would be starring in his own crime, but police are glad he did and hoping you can help them solve this mystery.

If anyone recognizes the suspect they should call Crime Stoppers at 405-235-7300.

Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a cash reward.
