Thunder Silence the Jazz

The Oklahoma City Thunder started the game on an 11-0 run and never trailed in a 116-96 win over the Utah Jazz on Sunday afternoon at Chesapeake Arena in Oklahoma City.

The Thunder held Utah to just nine first quarter points, building the lead to 28 at one point in the third quarter.

The Jazz went on a 21-5 run to cut the deficit to 12, but could get no closer as OKC pulled away in the fourth quarter.

Kevin Durant led all scorers with 31 points, his 38th straight game of scoring at least 25 points.

KD hit four 3-pointers and made all nine free throw attempts.

Russell Westbrook matched Durant at the free throw line and finished with 19 points.

Two other Thunder players scored in double figures, with Serge Ibaka scoring 17 and Caron Butler 15, with all of his points coming on five 3-point makes.

The Thunder shot 55 percent from the field and made 11 of 18 from 3-point range.

OKC improves to 54-19, and will get three days off before their next game on Thursday at home against San Antonio.

The Spurs lead OKC by three games for first place in the Western Conference standings, and have won 17 straight games.

Tipoff Thursday night is 7:00.
