OKLAHOMA CITY – Remington Park officials announced Extreme Racing with zebras, camels and ostriches will be back to the track later in April for an afternoon of excitement and hilarity for the entire family.
As part of live American Quarter Horse and Mixed-Breed racing, Extreme Racing at Remington Park takes place Sunday, April 27.
Racing begins at 1:30 p.m., with camels, ostriches and zebras competing for the Winner’s Circle, in one race each, throughout the afternoon.
“To mark our fifth year of Extreme Racing, we want patrons to have a unique, enjoyable and unforgettable experience,” said Day. “That is accomplished through a day like Extreme Racing. Patrons can see, touch and smell animals not typically found in our state, all the while they get to share a special afternoon with their family and friends. Not to mention watching the jockeys racing aboard these extreme animals.”
In addition to the exotic animals, the day also will feature a 21-inch miniature horse as well as multiple pig races on the Plaza.
Extreme Sunday Schedule – Live racing starts at 1:30 p.m. each Sunday
Sunday, April 6—The day will be filled with live Quarter Horse Racing and the National Reining Horse Association making a debut.
Sunday, April 13—Miniature donkeys will invade Remington Park for an up close meet and greet with the fans. Expect to see several different types of miniature donkeys and prepare to learn a little about their personalities and differences from some local area farmers that raise and show these gentle creatures.
Sunday, April 20 – Easter Sunday – American Quarter Horse & Mixed-breed racing.
Sunday, April 27—Extreme Racing including zebras, ostriches and camels. The Extreme races will take place at approximately 2:00, 3:30 and 4:30 p.m. For more hilarity, people dressed in ostrich costumes will race on the track. There will be five food trucks on-deck to make this day deliciously extreme with Smokin’ Okies, Off the Hook, Roxy’s Ice Cream Social, Mexi Dog and Wild Al’s all in attendance.
