WINSTON-SALEM, N. C. – A mother is now facing charges after authorities found her 3-year-old twins locking in a room and covered in feces in North Carolina.
According to WGHP, police originally went to the home to investigate a report of gunshots.
When they arrived at the Winston-Salem home, officers said they found the house door open.
Inside the home, a shoelace tied the bedroom doorknob to the stair banister holding it closed.
Police said they found the twins locked inside covered in feces and urine.
Emergency officials said they believe the toddlers were locked in the bedroom for days because of room’s condition and the dehydration of the children.
Officials said no one else was in the home.
Police later arrested the mother, 22-year-old Betrice Monique Tribble, for child abuse and resisting arrest.
