OKLAHOMA CITY – A metro woman was upset to learn her dentist closed unexpectedly.
Tara Downey was getting married in 24 hours and her smile was not complete.
“As a female its pretty devastating when you know that you’re not going to be able to open your mouth and smile in your wedding pictures after you spent so much money.”
She planned to pick up her corrected front teeth partials from My Dentist but when she got to the office, they were closed with no notice.
“I called Texas, Kansas, Missouri and I’ve called their call center and it goes just straight to a voicemail. You can’t leave a voicemail because it’s overwhelmed with calls,” said Downey.
None of the locations NewsChannel 4 called were open either.
At one branch we found a note on the door stating, “The office is closed for a company wide meeting.”
It appears the business is being sold, with part of Tara’s smile stuck inside.
“You can fix everything, makeup, hair and you can make the wedding look wonderful but if you can’t open your mouth and feel confident, it’s not a good feeling.” said Downey.
So our NewsChannel 4 crew went to work seeing if there was any way we could help.
Normally the process takes several weeks but with her looming nuptials just hours away it was almost impossible to find a quick fix.
After calling all over the metro we found one practice that was willing to help.
The team at Smile Associates in Oklahoma City agreed to stay late on a Friday night to help this bride to be.
They took measurements, set the molds and from there sent the impressions to the lab.
Although she would have to wait a few more hours for the real teeth, when she looked at her reflection with the samples, she was brought to tears knowing her special day would be as she always imagined.
“I feel very blessed, very loved by people I didn’t even know that wanted to help me.”
Tara will pick up her partials tomorrow morning, then walk down the aisle shortly after.
