Oklahoma City’s landmark sculpture getting big upgrade starting today

Skybridge

OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City SkyDance Bridge will receive an upgrade to the electrical system.

The 380-foot-long pedestrian bridge and 197-foot-tall landmark sculpture that spans Interstate 40 near Robinson Ave. will receive a new controller.

Currently, City staff must visit the site to make changes to the LED light programming.

The new controller will enable staff to remotely program the LED lights that welcome visitors downtown.

While work on the lighting controller is underway, the nightly illuminations will be temporarily suspended.

The work is set to begin Monday, April 14 and is anticipated to last through Thursday, April 24.

The bridge’s soaring architecture was inspired by Oklahoma’s state bird, the scissor-tailed flycatcher.
