RedHawks to honor Moore teacher who shielded students during tornado at home opener
OKLAHOMA CITY – The Oklahoma City RedHawks will have a special guest Friday night when they play their first home game of the season.
Plaza Towers teacher Karen Marinelli will be honored in the team’s “Home Run For Life” series.
The series recognizes people in the community who have overcome a significant medical event in their life.
Marinelli suffered significant injuries to her lower body, shielding three first-grade students from the May 20 tornado.
On Friday, the RedHawks will honor her and the three children she protected.
The season opener is set for 7:05 p.m. at the Chickasaw Bricktown Ballpark.
