OKLAHOMA – WEOKIE Credit Union is mourning the loss of Jack D. McCurdy who passed away suddenly at his home on April 17, 2014.

As a charter Board member, Mr. McCurdy was instrumental in the creation of the credit union and had served on the WEOKIE Board of Directors since 1969, helping guide the credit union from zero assets at inception to nearly $1 billion in assets today.

The Credit Union Executives Society (CUES) awarded Jack the national honor “Director of the Year”  for 1997 and in 2009 he was inducted into the CUES Director Hall of Fame. WEOKIE’s newest building, completed in December 2010, was named the Jack D. McCurdy Operations Center in honor of Jack’s long-term volunteer service for WEOKIE Credit Union.

Jack is survived by his wife, Dee McCurdy, three children; Jack D. McCurdy II, Barbara Groce and Janis Murphee, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

WEOKIE’s President and CEO, Brent Taylor said, “It is very difficult to fully express the profound impact that Jack had on WEOKIE Credit Union and the people involved in the organization. From “Day One”, Jack was integrally involved, and provided his guidance and expertise in many ways through decades of volunteer service.  He will be greatly missed.  He was an outstanding leader, colleague, and friend.”

The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22 at 11:00 am at St. John Nepomuk Catholic Church, 600 Garth Brooks Blvd (north of I-40 on Garth Brooks) in Yukon, Oklahoma.
