OKLAHOMA CITY - On Sunday, more than 20,000 people will descend on downtown Oklahoma City for the Memorial Marathon.
Many have been training for months.
One group started during the chilly month of January.
Since then, they have been watching the miles add up.
One runner says this is a good time to celebrate life.
"It's not a downer, the marathon itself, it really helps us celebrate life and remember that we're alive."
Many of the runners powered through the coldest days when they did not want to leave the warmth of their home.
The runners say that the marathon and the training itself can both be an emotional time.
