WATCH: TV station takes cover as tornado rips through Tupelo

TUPELO, Miss. – The National Weather Service reported that forecasters declared a tornado emergency for three counties around Tupelo, Mississippi, on Monday afternoon as a line of severe thunderstorms swept through the area.

Several tractor-trailers were reportedly blown off of the road.

A large, “violent and extremely dangerous” tornado was spotted four miles southeast of Zama, Mississippi, on Monday, the National Weather Service reported.

The twister was moving northeast at 45 miles per hour.

The extent of the tornado damage is not known at this time.
