Influenza continues to claim the lives of Oklahomans
OKLAHOMA – The flu continues to hang on – despite the Summer-like weather.
Over 60 Oklahomans have died because of the flu since September, according to the Oklahoma State Department of Health.
State health authorities are reporting today, two more Oklahomans were hospitalized due to influenza, just in the last week.
So far, 62 people have died from the flu since late September.
More than 1,000 other were hospitalized.
People between the ages of 18 and 64 represent 61% of all influenza-related hospitalizations recorded during the this year’s flu season — a significant increase compared with previous years when this age group represented about 35% of cases.
