The Center for Disease Control and Prevention says it’s monitoring a Salmonella outbreak linked to a Hamilton County hatchery.
The CDC investigation points to the Mt. Healthy Hatcheries near Cincinnati, Ohio.
The CDC said 60 people in 23 states have become sick since February 4th.
About a third of them have required hospitalization.
According to the CDC, the hatchery gets eggs and chicks from several different sources, so it’s unclear where the contamination actually originated.
This is the same mail-order hatchery that has been associated with multiple outbreaks of human Salmonella infections over the past two years.
The CDC said people should always wash their hands thoroughly with soap and water right after touching live poultry or anything in the area where the live and roam.
