KD Makes Cover of Sports Illustrated

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Kevin Durant is on the cover of this week’s Sports Illustrated.

The cover story chronicles Durant’s rise to being named the NBA Most Valuable Player this season, and his desire to improve and achieve more in his career, including winning an NBA championship.

The front cover headline reads “A New MVP Arrives”, and the story itself is headlined “Fit for a Ring.”SI Kevin Durant 2

Durant in his seventh season in the NBA, the same season Michael Jordan was when he helped the Chicago Bulls to their first NBA title in 1991.

The cover features Durant scoring over Oklahoma City native and L.A. Clippers forward Blake Griffin in the playoff series between the Thunder and Clippers.

This is the sixth time Durant has been on the cover of Sports Illustrated.

Five of those have come since he joined the Thunder, and one was when he was in college at the University of Texas.

It’s the seventh time the Thunder have been featured on the cover of SI.
