Officials are warning families about some unknown dangers surrounding a favorite summertime past-time.

According to the Centers for Disease Control thousands of people, many teens and young children, are sent to the emergency room each year because of the chemicals used to treat pools.

People are becoming overcome by strong vapors or fumes from chemicals used in pools.

To prevent exposure, experts say use goggles and masks when handling pool chemicals and never mix chlorine products with acids.
