IOWA – An Iowa couple claims a burger they got from a McDonald’s drive-thru was topped with a surprise ingredient, marijuana!
“I’ve seen a lot of stuff, but never something like this,” says Lt. Jason Bell of the Ottumwa Police Department.
Normally when you order a McDonald’s ‘McDouble’ it comes topped with a standard set of ingredients, cheese, mustard, ketchup, pickles and onions.
“I really haven’t had a lot of investigations where I focused so much on cheeseburgers,” Bell added.
But, in all seriousness, Ottumwa police are actively investigating, after getting a call from a customer who says the burger he bought from McDonald’s for his pregnant fiancée was tainted.
“They’re alleging that they received some, an order from the McDonald’s that had some suspected marijuana on the hamburgers,” said Bell.
If the substance really was marijuana, police say it’s a mystery why anyone would do such a thing.
As far as suspects are concerned, police are looking at everyone from employees to the couple who reported the crime.
Police say they found drug paraphernalia on one McDonald’s employee. But no one has been charged in the case, yet.
It’ll take about a month to get the test results back on the mystery ingredient on the burger.
