TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa police have arrested a man they say raped a 5-year-old girl in her own home.
Police arrested 29-year-old Kyle Hancock for first-degree rape and burglary.
It started early Saturday morning after a woman told police she woke up to the sound of her daughter crying.
Police say they found her daughter in a room with Hancock on top of her.
After a fight, he got out through a kitchen window.
Police say the family does not know the suspect but officers said they are familiar with him.
“He’s a registered sex offender for a similar offense a few years back,” Tulsa Police Sgt. Brandon Wykoff said. “Guys like this don’t ever need to be on the street again. He shouldn’t have got out as quickly as he did from the first time.”
Police say they questioned the two people who were with him when he was arrested on the outstanding warrants out of Creek County.
Officials said a man’s statement helped police connect Hancock to the rape.
A judge denied him a bond amount.
