NORMAN, Okla. – A family in Norman says a teen is recovering after being hit by a train on Monday.

Shortly before 4 p.m. on Monday, emergency crews received a call about a train hitting a person on the tracks near downtown Norman.

Capt. Tom Easley, with the Norman Police Department, says the victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The family of Harrison Braddy says he was walking home from his high school when he was hit by the train.

They say he was wearing earbuds and did not hear the train coming.

He survived but was severely injured.

Harrison is now recovering from a broken leg, broken pelvis, fractured vertebrae and the loss of his left kidney.

His family has created a GoFundMe account to help with medical expenses.
