Best vs. worst: Oklahoma ranks near the top for military retirees
OKLAHOMA CITY – Memorial Day is right around the corner and communities across the country will honor our nation’s heroes.
Some of those celebrations will take place in Oklahoma, including towns surrounding our Air Force bases and forts.
It turns out the Sooner State is a great place to be if you are retiring from the military, according to a new study.
WalletHub has released its list of Best and Worst States for Military Retirees.
Organizers looked at each state’s taxes on military benefits, veteran job opportunities, housing costs and the number of veteran health facilities.
The best states for military retirees is as follows:

- South Dakota
The list of the worst states for military retirees includes the following:

- 43. Rhode Island
- 44. Oregon
- 45. Michigan
- 46. Pennsylvania
- 47. Illinois
- 48. Arizona
- 49. Indiana
