A new report warns not all sunscreens contain the SPF protection promised on the label.
Researchers from ‘Consumer Reports‘ tested 20 brands of sunscreen and only two provided the amount of protection listed on the bottle.
The report states the two sunscreens that contained the correct amount of SPF protection were BullFrog Water Amour Sport InstaCool SPF 50+ and Coppertone Sensitive Skin SPF 50.
According to Today, the company is recommending seven sunscreens from Coppertone and Bullfrog to store brands from Walmart and Target.
- Banana Boat
- BullFrog WaterAmour Sport InstaCool SPF 50 – provides full SPF promised on the label
- Coppertone Sensitive Skin SPF 50 – provides full SPF promised on the label
- Equate (Walmart)
- Up & Up (Target)
- Well (Walgreens)
While not all of them met the SPF claimed on the label, they provided a very good to excellent protection from both UVA and UVB rays.
