MIDWEST CITY, Okla. – Scouts from all over the last Frontier Council will place flags at Veterans’ graves in western and central Oklahoma over Memorial weekend.

“The Boy Scouts have been working with us for as long as I can remember and I’ve been doing this for over twenty years,” Rick Voty, Commander of American Legion Post 170 in Midwest City, said.

Scouts and leaders will start at 9:00 a.m. at the Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City.

Together they will place American flags on over 2,700 graves of veterans that have served in the United States Armed Forces.

A ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. featuring State Sen. Cliff Aldridge delivering the keynote address.

The legion will read all the veterans names that have passed over the past year during the ceremony and they will teach the scouts how to correctly place the flags at the grave markers.
