Do you describe yourself as a cynic?

A new study shows you may want to try and change your outlook on life.

Researchers in Finland evaluated over 600 adults for dementia and had them fill out surveys that measured their level of cynicism.

They were asked how much they agreed with statements like “I think most people would lie to get ahead” or “It is safer to trust nobody.”

Experts found those who had the highest levels of cynical distrust were three times more likely to develop dementia.

Their risk was valid even after the researchers accounted for other factors that increase the risk for dementia, like high blood pressure and cholesterol.
