SYRACUSE, Utah – A Utah man helped stop a police chase that came very close to children playing in a park nearby.

Utah’s KSTU reported Bryson Rowley used his truck to end a chase because he was afraid the children in the park were going to be hurt.

“The person driving the truck could see it was turning back into the park and he did not want the car to hit all of the children, or any of the children, and he actually pulled his truck in the way so the car collided with the truck,” Syracuse Police Officer Erin Behm told KSTU.

According to KSTU, the suspect in the chase was a 14-year-old boy who is accused of taking his grandfather’s car for a joyride.

Officials said the teen is now in a juvenile detention center.
