ST. LOUIS (KTVI) – One suspect is dead and another is in critical condition after a father shot two men who allegedly held a gun to his daughter’s head.

According to KTVI, it all started when a teenage girl was confronted by two armed men in front of her home.

When the girl’s father saw the suspects walking his daughter toward the home, he grabbed his gun and fired several shots at the suspects.

The father says he did what he had to do in a tough situation.

He said, “I didn’t have no choice. He had my daughter so I did what I had to do.”

One suspect, Terrel Johnson, 31, was pronounced dead at the scene.  The other suspect, Cortez McClinton, 33, ran away and contacted his brother to take him to the hospital.

KTVI says McClinton is in critical but stable condition.  He was shot in the chest and both thighs.

Police say McClinton will face charges.

The father says he is sorry for what the suspect’s families are going through.

He said, “My condolences goes out to all the families involved. I don’t know him. I wish it hadn’t happened. So like I said, to the moms, fathers, all the other people involved, I apologize.”
