Mayor to cast first fishing line at new southeast Oklahoma City park today

OKLAHOMA CITY – The city is getting a new park on the southeast side of town.

The new Kitchen Lake Park with be dedicated this afternoon at S.E. 119th St. and Sooner Rd.

Anglers have been fishing at Kitchen Lake for nearly half a century now today city leaders will open a new park on its banks.

More than $850,000 in improvements means two picnic areas, a new driveway, parking lot and sidewalks, leading to a floating dock.

Kitchen Lake holds large-mouth bass, crappie and three types of sunfish.

During today’s ceremony Mayor Mick Cornett will cast the park’s first fishing line.

The dedication of the new kitchen lake park is set for 1:30 p.m.
