OKLAHOMA CITY – According to Oklahoma City police, one person is dead and another has been charged with a DUI after a wrong-way crash early Thursday morning.

Oklahoma City police responded to Highway 66 near Yukon just north of Lake Overholser just before midnight.

According to reports, police say a 19-year-old was driving the wrong way on the highway and slammed into another vehicle, head on.

The driver of the other car was killed.

“At this point in the investigation, it is believed that the other driver was intoxicated and we’re currently investigating that further,” said Lt. Tommy Joyce with Oklahoma City Police Department.

The 19-year-old is recovering from injuries to his lower body. Police say he is expected to recover.

Police have not released the victim’s name, pending on family notification.
