A long traffic nightmare between two Oklahoma communities will end today as the James C Nance Bridge connecting Lexington and Purcell will re-open this afternoon.

The bridge has been closed since January when cracks were discovered in support beams.

When the bridge shut down it blocked an easy route between the two cities and caused a five minute commute to become over 45 minutes long.

There will be an opening ceremony this afternoon.

Right now there will be a 15 ton limit in place, but the Oklahoma Department of Transportation says it will only last two months.

Meanwhile, the free shuttle service for riders between Lexington and Purcell will end tonight with the final shuttle departing Purcell at 7:30 p.m. and Lexington at 7:45 p.m.
