OKLAHOMA CITY -A beer run turned violent in Oklahoma City.
Two thieves attempted to steal a case of beer Tuesday night before stabbing the store clerk. The crime was caught on camera.
Now, police hope the catch the two men responsible.
Unfortunately, police say the store clerk may have put himself in harm's way and it's something everyone can learn from.
Walking through the front door of the gas station at N.W. 6th and Walker, two men casually stroll inside and head to the beer section.
Just seconds later, the two suspects suddenly run for the door with one case of beer in hand.
The store clerk can then be seen giving chase.
"The clerk chases out after them. He gets his vehicle and goes out in the parking lot which is where they end up getting into an altercation," said Oklahoma City police Sgt. Jennifer Wardlow.
With the clerk giving chase, the suspects dropped this case of beer in the parking lot.
One of the men then fled on foot, but after the clerk picked up the stolen beer, the second suspect stabbed him from behind.
"At the time he's stabbed, he said he didn't even realize it," said Wardlow. "He thought he'd possible been punched."
The clerk then went back to work for a few minutes before being told he'd been cut.
Police still hope to catch the suspects. Authorities are also advising against anyone ever doing what the clerk did, pursuing the armed thieves.
"It's a very dangerous situation chasing out after them. Again, that's something that we wouldn't recommend. We want people to be safe," said Wardlow.
Police say the best thing for robbery victims to do is to cooperate and live to tell the tale.
