Man shot in chest drives two blocks away so his kids wouldn’t see him die
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WREG) – A man turned his life around only to be violently murdered just feet from his home.
Both of Kenneth Matthews’ daughters were asleep inside the house, so family members say Matthews drove down the road to lure his killer away and protect them.
Sheila Watkins, Kenneth Matthew’s sister, says her baby brother was concerned about the safety of his 5-year-old and 11-year-old daughters.
After he was shot multiple times in his car, Watkins says he drove away to make sure the killer didn’t attack his family and so his children wouldn’t see him die.
“He was super dad, that’s who he was. That’s what defined him now,” said Watkins.
According to WREG, Watkins says her brother had just pulled his life together.
He reformed his life after being a pimp and realized being a father is what mattered most.
He was just granted custody of his two girls.
Right now, family members believe the brutal attack was random.
So far, no one has been arrested.
