Watch: Rescued Chilean miners come together for inspirational World Cup ad

CAMPAMENTO ESPERANZA, Chile – Soccer fans around the world were shocked when Chile pulled off the unthinkable.

On Wednesday, Chile’s national soccer team defeated Spain, a dominant team who won three consecutive major tournaments.

Now, many people are looking at Chile’s inspiration.

Last month, a group of Chileans, who are now known across the globe, came together to inspire the team.

In 2010, it seemed like all hope was lost for a group of miners trapped 2,300 feet underground after a cave-in.

33 men were trapped for 69 days but all of them survived the ordeal.

In the advertisement, the 33 men stand shoulder-to-shoulder on the ground above where they were trapped.

The commercial is in Spanish but the translation is below:

“In this same place, we were trapped for 70 days. The Earth had swallowed us. It was then when we had to prove what we were made of. We knew outside, millions of Chileans believed in us and this soil was witness to all of this. That’s why we will take this soil to Brazil to the practice field of our national team, to fill it up with hope and courage and show the world that nothing is impossible for a Chilean. Spain is tough? Netherlands is tough? We don’t fear the ‘death group.’ We don’t care about death because we defeated death before.”
