An annual pageant was held Friday that proved beauty is on skin deep, at least when it comes to man’s best friend.
The 26th annual Ugly Dog Contest took place at the Sonoma-Marin Fair.
Three judges scored the dogs on special or unusual attributes, personality and overall ugliness.
This year’s winner is a two-year-old mutt named “Peanut.”
His owner Holly Chandler of Greenville, North Carolina says Peanut was seriously burned as a puppy.
She says the $1,500 prize will be used to pay vet bills for abused animals.
