Japan now selling ‘cubed’ watermelons, see how much they sell for
KAGAWA, Japan – Watermelons come in many shapes and sizes. In Japan, there are even square watermelons.
Each year, farmers in Japan place baby watermelons in a square plastic box.
As the fruit matures, it takes on the shape of a cube.
Each cube-shaped watermelon costs over $100.
They will be sold at department stores in Osaka and Tokyo and even shipped overseas.
Sadly the square watermelons are not for eating. The fruit is harvested before it is ripe, and is mainly for show.
