The only head coach in OKC Barons history is back for more.

Todd Nelson, fourth year head coach, has agreed to a 3 year contract extension with the Barons.

Nelson has tallied a record of 161-105-10-32 in 304 games as the Barons bench boss, including to trips to the Western Conference Finals in the Calder Cup Playoffs.

It wasn't set in stone for Nelson to return to OKC's bench this season. He was a candidate for NHL jobs around the league, even talking seriously to the Carolina Hurricanes about becoming their next head coach.

Nelson played 12 years of professional hockey after being drafted in the 4th round (79th overall) of the 1989 NHL Draft.

Nelson has won 2 Calder Cups in his career. One in 1994 with Portland as a player and one as an assistant coach with the Chicago Wolves in 2008.
