High-tech visits for inmates at one Oklahoma jail

LOGAN COUNTY, Okla. – At no cost to taxpayers, new visitation technology at the Logan County Jail will allow inmates to better connect with loved ones on the outside.

Jail administrators say “Homewav” is just like Skype or Facetime.

The loved one on the other end pays 50-cents a minute and they can talk almost as long as they want to.

Usually, they have only five minutes once a week.

Even correctional officers don’t think it’s enough time because they say inmates get upset and start fighting.

It’s only been a few days since the new system was implemented, but deputies say they can already see it’s making a difference with the inmate population.
