Report: Airlines to follow stricter rules for reporting pet deaths

Capture

Flyers who would like to bring their precious companion with them on flights will soon receive information regarding pet deaths and mishaps one airline flights.

Any animal deaths, injuries, or losses will have to be reported by U.S. Airlines starting next year.

That comes from the Atlanta Journal Constitution, which also reports the regulations cover both personal pets, and dogs and cats shipped by breeders.

Airlines will also share how many animals they transport, to give flyers information on the percentage of incidents, not just the number of problems.

This requirement follows a string of airline pet deaths in the past few years.
