Officials: Police investigating officer-involved shooting in Pontotoc County
ADA, Okla. – According to KJRH, OSBI investigators are looking into an officer-involved shooting that happened early Saturday morning.
Officials say two off-duty officers fired handguns at an alleged shoplifter.
Police say an off-duty Ada police officer was at the Walmart in Ada when she overheard dispatchers reported a shop lifter in the premises.
As the suspect was leaving the store, the officer fired her handgun as the suspect attempted to flee the scene in a pickup truck.
We are told the suspect has been identified as Cordell Tebet, 26.
Tebet was arrested after a short pursuit when one of the tires when flat from being struck by a bullet.
Tebet has been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and felony eluding.
