SHAWNEE, Okla. – Shawnee police say they’ve wrapped up their investigation on an armed robbery that happened last month at the Rib Crib.
One of the suspects now behind bars is the man who reported the crime in the first place.
“He’s a very likeable individual, very polite and it probably all will be related. You know I think drugs were involved and people make bad decisions when drugs get involved,” said Shawnee police detective, Charles Swantek.
The crime happened late in the evening back on June 8th.
Surveillance video shows employee, Joshua Napoleon, turning out the lights.
Minutes later, a robber breaks in the side door and slips in.
Napoleon told police that suspect pointed a gun at him and told him to hand over the bank bags or he’d be killed.
Then thief slips out the same door and runs across the alley to a getaway car.
“We had received a report about Harold Wilsie, he goes by Beau. It was an anonymous tip,” said Det. Swantek.
That tip led to the arrest of Wilsie.
Swantek says he’s the man seen breaking into the restaurant in the surveillance video.
Jordan Keel was also arrested for allegedly driving the getaway car.
Both Wilsie and Keel said Napoleon, the supposed victim, was in on it all.
“Found that they all know each other,” said Det. Swantek.
All three have now been charged with conspiracy and grand larceny for “staging” the robbery.
“I think it should make people feel a little better that there’s not just random persons going around and robbing stores and businesses,” said Det. Swantek.
The crime came at an unfortunate time in the city of Shawnee.
Police were investigating a string of other armed robberies.
They say they’ve solved those as well, in addition to wrapping up the investigation on this “fake” one.
