A dog who waited a year for his owner to return home has finally been rescued.

According to the Huffington Post, when Woody’s owner died, the family sold the house and left the dog behind.

For more than a year, Woody waited under a nearby shop hoping the owner would come home.

Animal organization, Hope for Paws, finally found Woody and rescued him.

Hope for Paws workers say Woody’s heart was broken and he refused to eat.

Volunteers cleaned up Woody…and gave him a haircut.

Now, Woody is ready for a new home.
