Oklahoma City, Okla.-Oklahoma is one of only two states in the country to offer a new “healing shot” by re-purposing a patient’s blood, spinning it, and then injecting it back into the injured area of the patient.
This shot is administered at Vitality Medical & Cosmetic Center, the treatment is called Active Cell Technology or ACT and it’s like popular sports medicine shots without some of the damaging side effects.
The owners have a patent on the treatment, that’s why it’s not offered nationwide.
From CrossFitters in need of deep tissue work, to golfers who have constant shoulder problems, Vitality Medical said their goal is to heal every injured Oklahoman one at a time and they're healing patients with their own blood.
"He's putting me back together," said Erica Pepper, CrossFitter.
"My AC joint in my left shoulder locks up trying to play golf," said Bill Kyle, Golfer.
"They're getting well quickly so the healing process is happening fast," said Ron Nerad, Vitality Medical & Cosmetic Center."We take it to the next step, next level. We rid the blood of the red blood cells, white blood cells and the platelets.”
What's left is a concentrated serum of super-rich growth factors; they speed up the recovery process, it's like nutrition shot for muscles and joints.
"When we process it, we concentrate all of the factors that go into healing and regeneration and then we'll concentrate those where he's having pain," said Collins.
"I'm proof that it does work," said Kyle.
For patients not ready for the full infusion, on the XCELL Recovery Process side, they offer other unique surgery free treatments, like deep tissue and facia work.
"The technique is a little bit aggressive, so you have to be able to handle the aggressiveness of the treatment," said Darren Risley, Xcell Recovery Process.
"I compare this to a deep tissue massage without the music and the waterfall and the lights," said Pepper.
In the end, every patient here is using their body to heal themselves, no pain pills, no steroids and no surgery.
"It might sound corny, but God created a perfect body and we're just putting it back in and helping it along a little bit quicker," said Kyle.
There are some side effects from the ACT shot, patients can experience burning for 14-48 hours after the injection, but the pain gradually subsides as the tissue heals.
This treatment is not FDA approved and is considered experimental.
