It's a messy situation for one Spencer neighborhood. A four-month long water leak has left a constant river of water flowing down their street.
Kristena Brazel lives in the neighborhood.
Resident Kristena Brazel says it has gotten so bad she thinks it could be a health hazard.
Brazel said, "I have a child I can't even let play outside because I don't know where the water is coming from."
Neighbors say they've tried calling the City of Spencer numerous times but the city has been dragging their feet.
Residents say as that stream flows the water bills rise.
"Everybody has complained to the City of Spencer about their water bill," said Brazel. "I went from paying $40 a month to about $120."
The postman says he even mentioned the leak to city workers two months ago. He said city workers already knew about the problem.
"It's really dirty," said Brazel. "It makes it hard for me to check my mailbox really because I don't want to step in that nasty water."
When NewsChannel 4 reached out to the City of Spencer they said they have a work order in place to check on the problem.
They said water leaks are typically submitted to the utilities department.
