Former Oklahoma State running back Kendall Hunter will miss the entire NFL season for the San Francisco 49ers after suffering a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee in practice on Friday.

Hunter suffered the injury in a non-contact drill and walked off the field on his own.

An MRI on Saturday revealed the tear.

Hunter was set to be the backup to 49ers starting running back Frank Gore.

Hunter is in his fourth season with the 49ers and this is the final season of his contract.
