GORHAM, N.H. (NECN) – Officials say a man is accused of kidnapping a 15-year-old girl and holding her against her will in a storage container behind his trailer.

Nathaniel Kibby, 34, was in court on Tuesday for his first arraignment.

A judge ordered that he be held on a $1 million bail, which will likely keep him behind bars until his probable case hearing on Aug. 12.

Abigail Hernandez, 15, went missing on her way home from school last October.

Last week, she suddenly returned home.

At this time, there are very few details in the case.

However, neighbors believe Hernandez was hidden in a storage container behind Kibby’s trailer.

“He’s been called ‘Crazy Nate.’ I don’t know too much about him, he’s pretty much a loner. But I always told the girls, ‘Stay away from that trailer,” said Debbie Demers to NECN.

Kibby was arrested on assault and trespassing charges in March.

He is now facing one felony count of kidnapping.

Hernandez has been reunited with her family, who says her health has deteriorated and the teen is struggling to eat.
