LIBERTY, Mo. — You may have heard stories of people finding treasures in items picked up at a thrift store, but one Missouri woman thought it would never happen to her.
Fox4 says a woman found 18 $100 savings bonds worth an estimated $1,400 in an old book at a discount book store.
The woman, named Paula, bought a stack of books from a store that accepts donated items and sells them to customers for a deal.
According to Fox 4, when she got home she found the savings bonds inside the books!
Now, Paula is on a mission to make sure the savings bonds get back to the rightful owner.
“There are a lot of dishonest people, I’m in a business where I deal with a lot of dishonest people, and with the social security number, you can take somebody’s identity and I don’t want anyone else to have her identity, and I wouldn’t want anyone to have mine and they just need to be back in the right hands,” she said.
