MOUNT VERNON, N.Y. – A 6-year-old boy is safe after he drove his toy ATV onto the Bronx River Parkway.

Authorities say the boy, who has autism, was with his family in a park when he went missing on Sunday.

A short time later, the boy was spotted on the parkway.

According to police, several motorists surrounded the child and got him off the roadway.

He was taken to a local hospital to be checked but was not injured in the ordeal.
